The day after they get the word they'll go home in two weeks, a group of soldiers from Spokane are ambushed in an Iraqi city. Back stateside we follow four of them - a surgeon who saw too much, a teacher who's a single mom and who lost a hand in the ambush, an infantry man whose best friend died that day, and a soldier who keeps reliving the moment he killed a civilian woman. Each of the four has come home changed, each feels dislocation. Group therapy, V.A. services, halting gestures from family and colleagues, and regular flashbacks keep the war front and center in their minds. Despite the fact Van Helsing was commonly a supporting hero in more than forty vampire films, now he becomes a central character. He is to assist beautiful, sword-wielding Anna who is the last descendant of vampire-fighting clan, to slay the ominous count Dracula (Richard Roxburgh) having dispatched his monsters, namely the Wolf Man (Will Kemp), and Frankenstein's Monster (Shuler Hensley). Having convinced the distrustful peasants of his utility as the deliverer from the evil ones, Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) comes into the fierce confrontation with three Dracula's brides, powerful and dissolute viragos who embellish the movie bringing in a spirit of the perishable lust. Considering an almost immense budget, special-effects in this movie are quite impressive along with admirable Kate Beckinsale's cute character and the handsome long-haired Hugh Jackman in his heydays. |

After having served a 6-year sentence for car theft, Rudy Duncan (Ben Affleck) is about to go at large. A cheerful, trustful and dare-devil criminal named Archie Moses makes friends with Rock Keats (Damon Wayans), unaware of his being an undercover cop, actually named Jack Carter, assigned to catch the ruthless drug lord Frank Colton (James Caan). US Marshal Pete Nessip and his brother Terry, also a US Marshal are assigned to escort convicted computer hacker Earl Leedy to a top-security prison. But the commercial airliner Pete and Terry are on-board is hijacked by a group of terrorists led by renegade DEA agent Ty Moncrief who kidnaps Leedy and Terry is killed. Beliving Leedy is dead, Pete is held responsible for the incident and is suspended. Pete sets out to track down the terrorists, and turns to help from professional skydiver Jesse Crossman (Whose ex-husband Jagger is one of the terrorists working with Ty), where Jesse and her team are taking part in a Independence Day skydiving show in Washington D.C, where airspace security is at minimum. Where Ty plans to use Leedy to hack into the DEA mainframe computer to expose the identities of undercover DEA agents to international drug rings. When Jagger is killed by Ty and Selkirk, one of Jesse's team members is injured, Pete and Jesse team up to stop Ty and his associates, and both Pete and Jesse can get their revenge. |
