Based on a story by Daphne Du Maurier, this bone-chilling horror movie revolves around English architect John Baxter (Donald Sutherland) and his wife Laura (Julie Christie) who, after the tragic death of their young daughter, try to get their minds off their grief by changing environment. The mourning couple head for Venice, Italy where John has been contracted to oversee the architectural restoration of an ancient church. In Venice, they encounter two eccentric elderly sisters, one of whom is blind and claims to be psychic. Heather (Hilary Mason) insists that she is able to come into contact with their daughter's spirit. Baxter remains skeptical until he begins having visions of a mysterious young girl in a red cloak identical with his daughter's, as well as his wife and the sisters on a funeral gondola. Unfortunately, John realizes too late that the disturbing visions were premonitions of impending danger to him. |

Notwithstanding the title, this movie contains less of sensuality then you might think. This film is about a retired, depressive and unfriendly colonel, who had lost his sight and thinks that life has no sense anymore. He wants to take the last breath of life - to meet and talk with his brother, then to put up at a hotel, to sleep over with a beautiful woman - and then to commit suicide. This film clearly shows us, how important is to take trouble about a lonely, depressed person: such sympathy and compassion can save him from death. A young lad (Chris O'Donnell) hires to look after the seek, infirm people; this fellow tries to hearten the colonel, to find the words which could return the hope and optimism to the retired blind man. One should remember, that the best things any man can ever have are compassion, hope and friendship. One of the most succesful roles of Al Pacino. |

Los Angeles police sergeant Roger Murtaugh, who has just turned 50 years old, is assigned to investigate the death of Amanda Hunsaker, a prostitute who is one of the daughters of bank president Michael Hunsaker, a friend whom Roger has known since they were in the Vietnam War together, but Roger hasn't seen Michael in 12 years. Beginning with this investigation, Roger is assigned a new partner Sergeant Martin Riggs, who has been suicidal ever since his wife Victoria "Vicky" Lynn Riggs died in a car crash in 1984. Riggs and Murtaugh's investigation of Amanda's death reveals that she was murdered.
