Angels are among us and when we feel an invisible presence, you better believe they are watching you. An angel must decide if love is more important than eternal peace in this Americanized adaptation of Wim Wenders' modern classic Wings of Desire. Seth, an angel watching over Los Angeles, begins finding his job difficult as he falls in love with Maggie, a beautiful heart surgeon. She becomes interested in Seth, and soon his not-quite-mortal state seems a barrier rather than a gift. As Maggie gets to know the strange visitor in black who has suddenly appeared in her life, she finds herself torn between her new feelings for Seth and her attachment to her fiancй Jordan (Colm Feore), a fellow doctor. The movie follows the ancient Greek names, thus it is irrelevant to use the Roman name Ulysses. Generally, it was poorly written. Homer's classic epic poem about the hero, Odysseus, and his travels home after the infamous ten year battle of Troy, is brought to the silver screen. The gods seize the opportunity to make Odysseus and his crew the pawns in their games; forcing Odysseus to take unbelievable detours that add years to his journey home. These detours throw him into conflict with great mythological creatures like Circe, the Cyclops, and Poseidon, and ultimately bring him into Hades itself. Meanwhile, Odysseus' wife, Penelope, worries that her husband is dead and is forced to fight off suitors who want to claim his kingdom. Through all of this Odysseus must keep faith and fight to find his way back home, with only the aid of the goddess Athena. |

After an AWAC crew has been held hostage by the North Koreans for six months, the U.S. President Jack Neil is about to give the order to attack the communistic country. American Special Forces arrest Russian General Ivan Radek (Jürgen Prochnow) who has taken over Kazakhstan and set up a dictatorship that has resulted in the death of thousands of people. James Marshall (Harrison Ford), the President of the USA, visits Moscow and makes a speech on the USA's get-tough policy with regard to the dictatorial regime and terrorism. On the flight back to Washington, a group of Russian nationalists disguised as newspaper reporters and led by the Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman) seize the plane and take the passengers hostage. They want the President to release General Radek from prison and threaten to kill the hostages unless their demands are met. Everybody is sure that the President manages to escape from the plane in an emergency capsule. However, Marshall, a combat hero in the Vietnam War, considers it to be his duty to stay on board to rescue the hostages and regain control of the plane. |

Amistad is the name of a slave ship traveling towards the New World in 1839. It is carrying a cargo of Africans who have been captured, taken on board, and chained in the cargo hold of the ship. As the ship is crossing the Atlantic, Cinque, who was a tribal leader in Africa, leads a mutiny and takes over the ship. They continue to sail, hoping to find help when they land. Instead, when they reach the United States, they are imprisoned as runaway slaves. They don't speak a word of English, and it seems like they are doomed to die for killing their captors when an abolitionist lawyer decides to take their case, arguing that they were free citizens of another country and not slaves at all. The case finally gets to the Supreme Court, where John Quincy Adams makes an impassioned and eloquent plea for their release. |

Austin Powers (Mike Myers) is a famous spy from 60's who is cryonically frozen and then brought back to life in the middle of 1990's. The world has changed dramatically, his mission still being the same: to stop the evil Dr. Evil, who was also frozen in the past. Having got back his wonderful belongings, such as "Swedish-made penis-enlarger pump", a receipt for a "Swedish-made penis-enlarger pump" and a book written by Austin entitled "Swedish-Made Penis Enlarger Pumps and Me (This Sort of Thing Is My Bag, Baby)", Austin teams up with lovely Miss Vanessa Kensington (Elizabeth Hurley), his ex-partner's daughter and they go to Vegas to face the dangerous adventure there. Unfortunately, the secret agent's free love credo taken from the 1960s doesn't seem to really work out with Vanessa...
