Samantha Goodman (Kate Greenhouse) is an attractive thirty-something woman who is married to a writer, Dave Goodman (Gordon Currie), and works as a psychiatrist at an institution for the criminal insane. For many years everything in her life seems to be coming up roses. Then suddenly the whole world begins crumbling and disintegrating about her ears. Her incurable brain tumor starts to grow at an alarming rate. Feeling totally stressed and needing to get away from it, she decides to spend the weekend at a winter cottage in the woods, where her husband is working on editing his latest book with the assistance of her younger sister Melody (Iris Graham). It knocks Sam back on her heels when she notices that there is something in the nature of an incipient love affair between Dave and Melody. To make matters worse, Sam's weekend is ruined by an invited guest who turns out to be her former patient, Harlan Pyne (Aidan Devine), a violent sexual offender. Convinced that he has been unethically experimented on, Harlan takes revenge by compelling the family to participate in his diabolic game that is a sort of psychological and physical tortures.

Justin (Lou Taylor Pucci) is a teenager boy, who has an oral obsession with his thumb. His mother (Tilda Swinton) seems to be a normal housekeeper, but she has her own obsessions as well, like a crush on a TV-star (Benjamin Bratt). The only person who's aware of Justin's problem is his father (Vincent D'Onofrio), manager in a store, but none of his advices seem to be working for Justin. The kid is signed up in a debate workshop, but the thing isn't going well, because he has his mind in a pretty classmate and, of course, in his thumb, affecting all the rest of his classes. So, Justin is a loner kid in the school, who prefers to lock himself in the bathroom and suck his thumb. Justin's dentist (Keanu Reeves), a mystical-hippie person, will try to help to overcome his thumb problem, through the hypnosis. But the school's psychologist will diagnose Justin with the Attention Deficit Disorder, and will prescribe him some drugs. Suddenly, Justin's problem with his thumb will disappear, becoming an hyperactive genius, winning several debate contests and the admiration from his teacher (Vince Vaughn). Nevertheless, more serious problems will come for Justin with his mother, his father and with a drug addiction. |

Adventurers manage creature capture, and bringing him to New York City for display, where Kong escapes and runs amok, finally climbing the Empire State Building. Secret Service agent Tobin Keller (Sean Penn) is brought in to investigate Broome's story, and it isn't long before he's convinced that she knows more than she's willing to tell. Keller has his doubts. Is Silvia a witness or is she somehow connected to the threat against the African head of state? "The Interpreter" is a cat and mouse game with a few of the involved parties appearing to change sides throughout the process. Sometimes you should pay close attention in order to keep up with the plot (you can miss a key detail being away for a tea watching this film). |
