After an accident in a tunnel, a forensics expert (Denzel Washington) is left as a quadriplegic who is able only to move his head and one finger. Setting his finger to a computer, he is able to manipulate his environment with the help of a loving nurse (Queen Latifah). Even so, fearing seizures that could leave him a vegetable, he plans his "transition" with the help of a hesitational doctor friend. That all changes when he is confronted with clues from a serial killer that obviously are pointed to forensics investigation. The case clearly re-invokes his interest in life. A sharp, young cop's quick thinking saves the first crime scene. Recognizing her talent for forensics, he brings her (Angelina Jolie) unwillingly into forensics detection. Through radio contact, she becomes his eyes and legs on the scene. Michael Rooker also appears as the police captain, who has bungled earlier killings by the serial killer and is more interested in the press than in good police work. Ed O'Neill and Luis Guzman are support staff who aid Washington and run interference with Rooker. |

Computer hacker Thomas Anderson has lived a relatively ordinary life—in what he thinks is the year 1999—until he is contacted by the enigmatic Morpheus who leads him into the real world. A team of research scientists in the off-shore laboratory Aquatica are running experiments on sharks, trying to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Unbeknownst to her colleagues, Dr. Susan McAlester (Saffron Burrows), whose father suffered from this fatal illness, breaks ethical codes, genetically re-engineering the DNA of mako sharks to increase the brain size and obtain more cancer-battling enzymes. Unfortunately, the experiment also makes the sharks larger, stronger, more intelligent and aggressive. When financial backer Russell Franklin (Samuel L.Jackson), who is skeptical about the tests, threatens to close down the project, the team performs a demonstration experiment removing brain tissue from the largest shark. The test is successful, but then things go wayward: the shark subject unexpectedly awakes and tears Jim Whitlock's (Stellan Skarsgеrd) arm off. The scientists call a rescue helicopter but it crashes into the station during a tropical storm. The newly smart killer-sharks decide to make the most of the situation and sink the station in order to escape into the sea.

The Persian Gulf War comes to an end and the United States triumph over a defeated enemy. Hundreds of Iraqi officers and soldiers surrender themselves cradling leaflets promising food and drink, home and kind treatment. Sergeant First Class Troy Barlow (Mark Wahlberg) and Private First Class Conrad Vig (Spike Jonze) are charged to disarm, strip naked and search the surrendering Iraqi. They are lucky to have found an important document on a resisting Iraqi officer. The document proves to be a map that discloses the location of Saddam Hussein's caches of gold confiscated from Kuwait. Troy and Conrad arrive at a decision not to report their commanding officers, except their pal, Staff Sergeant Chief Elgin (Ice Cube). However, the rumors of the secret map reach the ears of Major Archie Gates (George Clooney), and the four soldiers come up with a selfish plan to abstract the treasure from the bunkers.

A mysterious African-American warrior nicknamed Ghost Dog (Forest Whitaker) follows "Hagakure: The Way of the Samurai." The gangsters keep the track of all the lofts in town and kill Ghost Dog's pigeons when they eventually find his hut. Ghost Dog realizes that he is given the toughest assignment to slay the entire mafia or, otherwise, they will kill him and his master, so he starts wiping out his many adversaries.
