Christian missionary Katherine Winter (Hilary Swank) lost her faith on God after her dearly loved husband and daughter were sacrificed by the Sudanese who blamed them for the long drought. Since then Katherine, a college professor, has become a famous expert in refuting superstitions, mysteries and miracles, finding a scientific explanation for a particular event. One day she arrives in a sleepy town of Haven, Louisiana, to examine a series of inexplicable incidents that appear to be the ten biblical plagues. In the course of her investigation Katherine comes to the conclusion that science can't explain all phenomena; and she ultimately regains her faith which grants her the power to withstand the dark forces.

In New York City, Dahlia (Jennifer Connelly) has just divorced from her husband and is disputing the custody of their daughter Cecilia (Ariel Gade). She has a very restricted budget, so she moves with Cecilia to an old small apartment in an island near Manhattan. She does not pay attention to a stain of water on the ceiling of the bedroom, but once living in the place, she realizes that there is a drip of dark water in the bedroom and she asks the landlord to repair the leakage. Meanwhile, Cecilia finds a red Hello Kitty bag on the terrace, and Dahlia returns it to the administrator. In school, the teacher tells Dahlia that Cecilia has an imaginary friend called Natasha. Along the days, Dahlia has severe migraines and nightmares, while disputing her daughter in the justice and having troubles in the apartment. Dahlia decides to investigate further, and she faces a tragic accident. |

Cindy has taken up a job as a house caretaker for a nice old lady that is said to be cursed. Cindy moves right in and the house is located right next to Craig Bierko as Tom Ryan, a down on his luck father. Cindy soon discovers a dreaded secret about the house and she is comforted by Tom who is watching his children for the weekend. As soon as the two become more then just friends, a huge storm rolls on in and hits the town. Tom discovers a giant hole in the ground and an alien TrIpod emerges from it's depth's. Meanwhile, Cindy finds the soul of a tortured boy living inside the house who tells her he knows the secret on how to defeat the aliens. But before he gives it too her, he vanishes. The only way to figure out the mystery is to find the boy's father. Cindy and Tom split away from each other and Tom, with his children, seek refuge in a torn up basement owned by shotgun wielding man named Oliver. Cindy, while trying to figure out her own mystery, bumps into her old friend Brenda Meeks. Teogether, they decide to defeat the aliens. Brenda then discovers a hidden village outside of town and Cindy figure's out the boys father is somewhere inside. Now it's up to Cindy and Brenda to find the boys father and unfold the mystery on how to defeat the aliens, who in fact have their own plans on how to torture such people like Shaq and Dr. Phil. |

During full moon nights a werewolf roams the streets of Los Angeles assaulting and killing strangers. It takes them a while to notice their physical strength increased, their sensitivity intensified and their bodies changing with the appearance of the full moon.
