In February, 1945, one of the fiercest battles of the Pacific theater of World War II occurs on the tiny island of Iwo Jima. Thousands of Marines attack the stronghold maintained by thousands of Japanese, and the slaughter on both sides is horrific. Early in the battle, an American flag is raised atop the high point, Mount Suribachi, and a photograph of the raising becomes an American cause celebre. As a powerful inspiration to war-sick Americans, the photo becomes a symbol of the Allied cause. The three surviving flag raisers, Rene Gagnon, John Bradley, and Ira Hayes, are whisked back to civilization to help raise funds for the war effort. But the accolades for heroism heaped upon the three men are at odds with their own personal realizations that thousands of real heroes lie dead on Iwo Jima, and that their own contributions to the fight are only symbolic and not deserving of the singling out they are experiencing. Each of the three must come to terms with the honors, exploitation, and grief that they face simply for being in a photograph. |

Ordinary people find extraordinary courage in the face of madness. On 13-14 November 1990 that madness came to Aramoana,a small New Zealand seaside village. It came in the form of a lone gunman with a high-powered automatic rifle. As he stalked his victims the terrified and confused residents were trapped in the village for 24 hours while a handful of under-resourced and underarmed local policeman risked their lives trying to find him and save the survivors. By dawn 13 people lay dead. This is a true story. |

The faint-hearted should be prepared for the brutal, barbaric beatings that Christ endures. Monica Bellucci, Maia Morgenstern, and Hristo Jivkov are engaged as Magdalene, Maria, and John respectively, who are distressed by Jesus' fate yet aware that they can do nothing to change it. |

One of the most accomplished piano players in Poland, Wladyslaw Szpilman becomes subject to the anti-Jewish laws imposed by the conquering Germans in the 1930s. At last deciding to escape, suffering the tragedy of his family deported to a death camp, Szpilman goes into hiding as a Jewish refugee where he is witness to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in 1943 and the Warsaw City Revolt in August/October 1944.

Some people are born to be heroes... The startling movie follows one of the Russian national heroes, the most famous sniper during the Second World War. It is 1942, the Stalingrad Battle: the German Army sends its master sniper, Major Koenig (Ed Harris) to the front line. This highly proficient and patient sharpshooter is the only soldier who may try to find and kill a Russian angel of death - an elusive sniper named Vassili Zaitsev (Jude Law). Zaitsev is a legend and icon for defenders of Stalingrad because he kills a record number of Nazi aggressors every day. In the 15th century, France was entangled in the Hundred Years' War with England. When the country seemed to be threatened with its inevitable downfall, Joan of Arc (Milla Jovovich), a 17-year-old illiterate peasant girl, appeared at the court of the French Dauphin, Charles (John Malkovich). She claimed that she had been instructed by the Lord to lead troops into a holy battle and defend their land against the aggressors. Inspired by the charismatic, self-confident, strong and fearless maiden, warriors won a victory over the English at Orleans. A year later, Joan was captured by the Burgundian and sold to their allies, the English, who tried her for heresy and burnt alive at the stake. In 1456, she was pronounced innocent. In 1920, Joan of Arc was declared a national heroine and canonized a saint. |

Following the Allied invasion of Normandy, two brothers lay dead in the wake of the onslaught. Meanwhile, in New Guinea, a third brother has been killed fighting the Japanese. After the Army General Staff learns that a fourth brother is missing in the French countryside, a rescue mission is ordered to find the young soldier and return him safely home. The mission is mounted by a veteran Ranger Captain commanding a squad of men who have mixed feelings about risking their lives to "Save Private Ryan". |
