The Ultimate Western Spoof. A town where everyone seems to be named Johnson is in the way of the railroad. After the sheriff is killed, the town demands a new sheriff from the Governor. Hedley convinces him to send the town the first Black sheriff in the west. Bart is a sophisticated urbanite who will have some difficulty winning over the townspeople. |

Lt. John Dunbar is dubbed a hero after he accidentally leads Union troops to a victory during the Civil War. He requests a position on the western frontier, but finds it deserted. Based on Katsuhiro Otomo's popular manga, this animated sci-fi feature opens in New-Tokyo in 2019, thirty years after the planet has been ravaged by a nuclear war. The highways are ruled by motorcycle gangs; corrupt politicians try to hold the whip hand over the population; unscrupulous scientists run experiments on kids with the hope of expanding human psychic powers. During the conflict between two rival gangs of bikers, Tetsuo loses control of the bike and nearly runs down a child-like blue-skinned stranger. The military unexpectedly shows up at the scene of the accident and takes him to a top-secret facility. There, Tetsuo becomes a test subject to awaken Akira, a source of incredible psychic and physical powers and the cause of the nuclear explosion in Tokyo thirty years ago. However, the tests trigger the growth of Tetsuo's innate psychokinetic ability. He breaks out and begins to go on a rampage, wreaking havoc on Neo Tokyo. |

In a modern-day Southern California neighborhood and high school, student Brendan Frye's piercing intelligence spares no one. Melvin Udall (Jack Nicholson), an eccentric, sarcastic writer, suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder which shows itself in many different ways. For example, he avoids stepping on the crack in the sidewalk. Every time he wants to wash his hands, he takes a new bar of soap. Melvin brings a plastic spoon and fork in a hermetically sealed bag to the café where he eats every day. He generally hates people and the only person he befriends is Carol Connelly (Helen Hunt), a single-mother waitress. Melvin finally comes out of his shell when his neighbor, Simon Bishop (Greg Kinnear), ends up in hospital after being brutally beaten and left penniless by muggers. He is forced to look after Simon's dog that teaches him to be kind-hearted and devoted. |

David Mann ('Dennis Weaver (I)' (qv)) is just a regular family man on a business trip. Unfortunately, things go from bad to worse when a huge gasoline truck in front of him forces him to drive slower than he wants. As the drive continues, Mann realizes that he's not dealing with just another road hog. Though he can never see the trucker's face, the driver proves to be psychopathic, starting to run Mann off the road and trick or force him into a number of deadly situations. As the horrific trip continues, Mann tries to lose the truck, but each time he thinks he's finally in the clear, the truck returns to terrify him more. Finally, the horrific conflict builds to a point where he realizes that running won't save him, and that he must take a stand and fight back against the insane trucker. |
