It is Valentine's Day, the most romantic day of the year. At a high school dance, love is in the air. An unattractive student, Jeremy Melton (Joel Palmer), tries to ask girls to dance with him, but to no avail. At last plump Dorothy Wheeler (Jessica Capshaw) agrees, but school bullies don't like the couple and begin mocking at them. Dorothy says that Jeremy has attacked her. Then the boys humble Jeremy by calling him a pervert, pulling off his clothes and battering him in front of the entire school. Many years pass. In 2001, Dorothy, Paige Prescott (Denise Richards), Kate Davies (Marley Shelton), Lily Voight (Jessica Cauffiel), and Shelley Fisher (Katherine Heigl), who were at the school dance, plan to celebrate upcoming Valentine's Day together. However, one of the girls, Shelley, is brutally murdered by a Cupid-mask wearing killer who sent her a threatening Valentine's Day card just before the attack. After the funeral, the remaining four girls start receiving anonymous threats. The girls suspect Jeremy Melton of being responsible for the murder and threats. |

Lewis Thomas (Paul Walker) takes an opportunity to start an affair with Venna Wilcox (Leelee Sobieski), the girl of his dreams. He buys a jitney and sets out on a road trip to Colorado to pick Venna up at college. During their trip fun-loving Fuller decides to play a CB-radio trick on a trucker with a gruff voice which makes your flesh creep. Fuller convinces Lewis to pretend to be a female trucker named "Candy Cane" and make a rendezvous with "Rusty Nail" (Ted Levine) at the motel. The joke works well, and the dudes giggle at the lovelorn trucker. However, they are unaware that foolish pranks may be fraught with grave consequences. |

Norman Spencer (Harrison Ford), a renowned university research scientist, and his wife, Claire (Michelle Pfeiffer), a retired concert cellist, are a seemingly happily married couple. The eye-opening drama depicts a slice of the lives of four people entrapped by their addictions. Harry Goldfarb (Jared Leto), his girlfriend Marion Silver (Jennifer Connelly) and his best pal Tyrone C. Love (Marlon Wayans) are massively hooked on drugs. They enjoy blowing their minds but haven't yet gone to pieces so they live a relatively full life having dreams and making plans for the future. Knowing that heroin brings in a lot of cash, they become small-time drug dealers who have many things to take care of: where to obtain the goods, who to sell, how not to be caught red-handed. They successfully sell drugs in the streets of New York but one day their fragile world crashes down when they have to put an end to their business due to the showdown between local mobsters. The lost source of income doesn't sadden them much. What drives them to despair is having nowhere to get drugs for themselves. Harry and Tyrone arrive at a decision to go to Florida to buy heroine in bulk at cheaper prices. Along the way, Harry is tormented by gangrene of the hand that worsens and results in amputation. Tyron is put in prison. The cocaine-obsessed Marion begins to sell herself in order to get the drug.
Meanwhile, Harry's widowed mother, Sara Goldfarb (Ellen Burstyn), who is addicted to television is selected to appear on her favourite game show. Wanting to fit into her best red dress, she visits a doctor who prescribes amphetamines which depress appetite. Sara soon becomes dependent on the diet pills and ends up in mental hospital. The moral of the story is that all addictions have dire consequences.

A group of scientists, led by the brilliant and ambitious inventor Sebastian Caine (Kevin Bacon), accepts the Pentagon's assignment to formulate a serum for invisibility.
