It's a contemporary interpretation of Shakespeare's play which is transported from medieval Scotland to modern-day Australia. Macbeth (Sam Worthington) is a cold-blooded assassin working for a powerful Melbourne crime lord, Duncan (Gary Sweet). A fateful encounter with three teenage witches (Chloe Armstrong, Kate Bell and Miranda Nation), who prophesy that he will soon assume power, stirs his ambition and arouses in him the determination to try to take total control over Duncan's gang. Since childhood ambitious Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) has been mad about auto racing, dreaming of following his father's (Gary Cole) steps and becoming a pro. He makes the first step to his dream and starts working on a pit crew as a jackman for a race team. One day he is lucky to replace Terry Cheveaux (Adam McKay) who is only an apology for a driver and ends up finishing third despite starting mid-race in last place. Ricky soon becomes the best NASCAR driver, around whom reporters and girl fans always swarm. He and his stalwart childhood friend, racing partner Cal Naughton Jr. (John C. Reilly) always finish races in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions; he has his trophy wife Carley (Leslie Bibb), two kids and fat cat accounts in the bank. It goes on like this, until a pretentious Formula One driver Jean Girard (Sacha Baron Cohen) challenges Ricky and outperforms him on the track. The ex-champion finds himself in a hospital bed instead of a pedestal. Doctors prohibit him from dreaming of his comeback on track but despite everything Ricky gets back into racing and makes it hot for Jean Girard.

Borat feels an urge to get married to her and, without thinking twice, sets out on a quest for the most desirable woman on Earth. On the way to California, he carries on gathering footage for his documentary and has a great many adventures while interviewing and interacting with Americans.

Nicholas Garrigan (James McAvoy), a young idealistic Scottish doctor, wants to escape from the bourgeois life of his parents and thus volunteers to work in a remote Ugandan village. His arrival is coincident with the beginning of Idi Amin's (Forest Whitaker) reign. The new leader unexpectedly offers Garrigan the position of his personal physician, and, enamored by the president's magnanimity and charisma, the doctor accepts a tempting offer. Nicholas soon catches himself being his advisor on all matters, from architecture to foreign affairs. At first he feels proud to be given the honor of being Amin's closest confidante but then becomes appalled by the tyrant's savagery and murderous insanity. Moreover, he realizes that he is abetting Amin. Eventually, Garrigan has to put out considerable effort in order to avoid falling victim to the barbaric dictator and escape Uganda alive. |
