Newton Davis (Steve Martin) has loved Becky Metcalf (Dana Delany) since his schooldays. Around the World in 80 Days is based on the classic novel by Jules Verne and stars Jackie Chan as Passepartout. British inventor Phileas Fogg (Steve Coogan), a daring man of science, stated his belief that it's possible for him to travel around the globe in a mere 80 days, as he asserted in a lively discussion with Lord Kelvin (Jim Broadbent), the head of the Royal Academy of Science.
