Ted Striker just got dumped by his long-time girlfriend Elaine Dickinson, who works as a stewardess at Trans American Airlines. In his wish to get her back, he follows her aboard the plane, although he has had a deep aversion against anything winged since he lost several men in the war. During flight, he tries to contact her again and again, but as the crew and many passengers get seriously ill due to a bad fish meal, he has no chance to get to her. In fact, Ted Striker seems to be the only healthy person aboard that has piloting experience. Now, it is up to him to get the bird down in Chicago safely, before the poisoning starts causing casualties. But Ted Striker's aversion really is a serious psychosis, which breaks open and needs to be cured - right now. |

Harvey Pekar (Paul Giamatti) leads an ordinary life in the city of Cleveland, working as a file clerk at the local VA hospital. Melvin Udall (Jack Nicholson), an eccentric, sarcastic writer, suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder which shows itself in many different ways. For example, he avoids stepping on the crack in the sidewalk. Every time he wants to wash his hands, he takes a new bar of soap. Melvin brings a plastic spoon and fork in a hermetically sealed bag to the café where he eats every day. He generally hates people and the only person he befriends is Carol Connelly (Helen Hunt), a single-mother waitress. Melvin finally comes out of his shell when his neighbor, Simon Bishop (Greg Kinnear), ends up in hospital after being brutally beaten and left penniless by muggers. He is forced to look after Simon's dog that teaches him to be kind-hearted and devoted. |

At this point, Wonka starts to ignore Charlie, and then tells him why: because Charlie and Grandpa Joe, played by 'Jack Albertson' (qv), drank some forbidden product without permission. Will Charlie turn against Wonka? Or will he discover that he was wrong and make up what he has done? |

Ash - the sole survivor of the original 'Evil Dead' - returns with his girlfriend Linda to the remote cabin in the woods. He discovers a tape recorder that a professor had used to record incantations from the Necronomicon XMortis - the Book of the Dead. When he turns it on, the recording releases a dark, sinister force from the woods. It turns Linda into a zombie, her soul possessed by some hideous demon, and then tries to do the same to Ash. Other people come to help Ash, but one by one they are taken over by the Evil Dead force that also possesses Linda, the Professor, and the Professor's wife...and they try to make sure Ash is...Dead by Dawn! |

Wanda (Jamie Lee Curtis) brings her new secret lover, Otto (Kevin Kline) to England to help her and her lover George and stuttering animal lover Ken (Michael Palin) steal $20 million in diamonds. Wanda and Otto then turn in George to the police so they can have the loot for themselves, but George has already moved the diamonds and only he knows where they are. All four of the criminals start double-crossing each other to try to get to the diamonds before anyone else. Wanda tries to find them by "getting close" to George's barrister, Archie Leach (John Cleese), because if George pleads guilty he will tell Archie where the diamonds are to cut his sentence. Absolute hilarity ensues. |

Notwithstanding the title, this movie contains less of sensuality then you might think. This film is about a retired, depressive and unfriendly colonel, who had lost his sight and thinks that life has no sense anymore. He wants to take the last breath of life - to meet and talk with his brother, then to put up at a hotel, to sleep over with a beautiful woman - and then to commit suicide. This film clearly shows us, how important is to take trouble about a lonely, depressed person: such sympathy and compassion can save him from death. A young lad (Chris O'Donnell) hires to look after the seek, infirm people; this fellow tries to hearten the colonel, to find the words which could return the hope and optimism to the retired blind man. One should remember, that the best things any man can ever have are compassion, hope and friendship. One of the most succesful roles of Al Pacino. |
