While escaping from the cops after a failed toyshop robbery attempt for a Christmas present for his niece, likable small-time crook Harry Lockhart (Robert Downey Jr.) finds himself fortuitously in an audition for a Hollywood detective movie. Impressed by his energy and forcefulness, the producer sends Harry to Los Angeles for a screen test where the latter meets private-eye and movie consultant Perry van Shrike (Val Kilmer), also known as Gay Perry, who teaches him all the tips on how to act. At a Hollywood party Harry crosses the path with his unrequited old flame, Harmony Faith Lane (Michelle Monaghan), an aspirant actress. Harmony mistakes Harry for an actual detective and implores him to investigate her younger sister’s death. Teamed up with Gay Perry, Harry is out to solve an intricate murder case.

William Friedkin's gritty police drama portrays two tough New York City cops trying to intercept a huge heroin shipment coming from France. An interesting contrast is established between 'Popeye' Doyle, a short-tempered alcoholic bigot who is nevertheless a hard-working and dedicated police officer, and his nemesis Alain Charnier, a suave and urbane gentleman who is nevertheless a criminal and one of the largest drug suppliers of pure heroin to North America. During the surveillance and eventual bust, Friedkin provides one of the most gripping and memorable car chase sequences ever filmed. |

The action takes place in Japan in the 1870s. While visiting the Earth at Night, a group of alien botanists is discovered and disturbed by an approaching human task force. Because of the more than hasty take-off, one of the visitors is left behind. The little alien finds himself all alone on a very strange planet. Fortunately, the extra-terrestrial soon finds a friend and emotional companion in 10-year-old Elliot, who discovered him looking for food in his family's garden shed. While E.T. slowly gets acquainted with Elliot's brother Michael, his sister Gertie as well as with Earth customs, members of the task force work day and night to track down the whereabouts of Earth's first visitor from Outer Space. The wish to go home again is strong in E.T., and after being able to communicate with Elliot and the others, E.T. starts building an improvised device to send a message home for his folks to come and pick him up. But before long, E.T. gets seriously sick, and because of his special connection to Elliot, the young boy suffers, too. The situation gets critical when the task force finally intervenes. By then, all help may already be too late, and there's no alien spaceship in sight. |

This brilliant satirical comedy follows Peter Gibbons (Ron Livingston), an ordinary IT worker who is fed up with his mediocre life and his boring job at a software company plagued by excessive management. But, curiously enough, instead of firing him, the company gives him a promotion. When he discovers that his best friends Michael Bolton (David Herman) and Samir Nagheenanajar (Ajay Naidu) are laid off instead, Peter induces them to exact revenge on the callous employer by planting a computer virus that will send fractions of pennies from the company's transactions into their own bank account. |

Wanda (Jamie Lee Curtis) brings her new secret lover, Otto (Kevin Kline) to England to help her and her lover George and stuttering animal lover Ken (Michael Palin) steal $20 million in diamonds. Wanda and Otto then turn in George to the police so they can have the loot for themselves, but George has already moved the diamonds and only he knows where they are. All four of the criminals start double-crossing each other to try to get to the diamonds before anyone else. Wanda tries to find them by "getting close" to George's barrister, Archie Leach (John Cleese), because if George pleads guilty he will tell Archie where the diamonds are to cut his sentence. Absolute hilarity ensues. |

Human emotions are suppressed by voluntary injections of the "prosium", a preparation which helps the System to control its citizens. John Preston (Christian Bale), a government special agent is also under the influence of this drug, but when he forget to take a doze, he accidentally hear the fragment of the Beethoven's Ninth Symphony seeing the sunrise and discover himself unable to be a pawn of the System anymore as his emotions awake. |

The satirical comedy centers on famous Kazakh television personality Borat Sagdiyev (Sacha Baron Cohen) who is assigned by the Kazakh Ministry of Information to travel to the USA so as to make a documentary about this 'greatest country in the world'. While in the United States, he sees an episode of Baywatch on TV and instantly becomes infatuated with sexy Pamela Anderson. Borat feels an urge to get married to her and, without thinking twice, sets out on a quest for the most desirable woman on Earth. On the way to California, he carries on gathering footage for his documentary and has a great many adventures while interviewing and interacting with Americans.

When rich Uncle Howard (Wilkinson) comes to town and agrees to help them out, he admits his finances are under investigation, and he asks them to do him a favor and "take care of" an old business relation to keep his trouble under wraps - he says that they're family, and since he always takes care of them, the least they could do is help him out this once, as they're the only ones he can trust. The film follows their struggle with the immorality of this request and how each brother chooses to deal with it. |

Richard and Susan are a couple from San Diego, California who are vacationing in Morocco while their two children are at home with their Mexican housekeeper, Amelia. A rifle finds its way into the hands of a local herdsman's young sons, who recklessly take a shot at a tour bus and hit Susan in the shoulder, causing her severe injury. The distraught Richard calls home to tell Amelia of the situation, who shortly departs for Mexico to attend her son's wedding, with Richard and Susan's children in tow. Disaster thus multiplies, with the situation in Morocco ascribed to terrorists in the media, while Amelia meets with trouble at the Mexican border when she attempts to return to San Diego with Richard and Susan's children. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, a widower tied to the rifle in question, a complex shift of ownership to which the audience is privy, attempts to deal with the memories of his recently deceased wife and his strained relationship with his deaf teenage daughter. |
