Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant) used to be an A-list pop star. However, his fame slowly but surely began to dwindle and ultimately fizzled out. Many years later the gifted musician is on top of the world about a chance to redeem his forfeit fame when newly-made pop diva Cora Corman (Haley Bennett) offers him to write a chart-topping hit and record a duet with her.
