Set in East Africa in 1914, the adventure drama tells the story of Charlie Allnut (Humphrey Bogart), a gin-swilling ship captain who ferries supplies to a small village where British missionary Reverend Samuel Sayer (Robert Morley) and his maiden-lady sister Rose (Katharine Hepburn) live. When German troops invade the village and kill the missionary, Rose is forced to resort to Charlie's help to return to civilization. Despite their mutual dislike, the prim missionary and the daredevil captain set off on the treacherous waters to encounter different obstacles on their way. |

Earth in its 1950s AD. A spaceship lands in Washington, DC. An alien called Klaatu (Michael Rennie) and his super-powerful robot Gort (Lock Martin) have brought an important message addressing human beings of all nations. Unfortunately, communication appears to be hard at times, which provokes Klaatu to study this planet. He lives among people, collects information, then eventually he reveals himself. What this alien ambassador tries to learn is why humans keep cruelly fighting with each other through long centuries. |

When Julie la Verne and her husband Steve Baker are forced to leave the showboat Cotton Blossom (their marriage is illegal because of Julie's mixed blood),their places are taken by Magnolia Hawks, the Captain's daughter, and Gaylord Ravenal, a gambler. "Rocky" Mulloy is framed for a murder and a holdup he didn't commit and pulls a five year stretch in prison. He is finally pardoned when a friend returns from overseas to corroborate his testimony in court. "Rocky" then goes hunting for the real culprits so this his prison buddy, believed to be innocent, can also be pardoned. Nancy Morgan, wife of his friend, falls in love with him along the way, and he also has a few bullets fired at him by an oily character. "Rocky" finds the guilty party in a place he didn't think about looking. |
