On March 5th 1873, two Scandinavian women living on the Isles of Shoals, New Hampshire, were brutally murdered. The first woman was hacked by an ax, the second one was beaten and strangled. The third woman, Maren Hontvedt (Sarah Polley), managed to survive by hiding in a sea cave. Later she identified the murderer to the police. It was Louis Wagner (Ciarán Hinds) who was condemned to be hanged for his crimes. A century later, Pulitzer Prize winning poet Thomas Janes (Sean Penn), his wife, Jean (Catherine McCormack), a photojournalist, his stepbrother, Rich Janes (Josh Lucas), and Rich's girlfriend, Adaline Gunne (Elizabeth Hurley), travel to the same Isles on a yacht. Jean doesn't spend time only enjoying the sea and the sun but investigating the mysterious double homicide. The storyline shifts between the present and the past as the two different narratives of Maren's life, the eyewitness of the murder, and Jean's seemingly perfect life, interweave in the suspenseful movie. |

An American police detective, Tom Canboro (Gary Busey), used to live a perfectly-ordered yet unremarkable life, until one day something inexplicable began to happen. After two people had thrown themselves out the window, Tom launched an investigation into the incident and uncovered that the suicides had been connected with some supernatural powers. Having had a car crash and awakened from a 7-year coma, Tom found himself in a bizarre new world ruled by Franco Macalousso (Nick Mancuso) who proclaimed himself Messiah. Millions had gone down the drain, none of those remaining people could remember who and what they had been before. Almost everyone had the Mark of the Beast on their right hand; all those who had refused to give allegiance to the evil leader were hunted down and brutally killed. Tom was also pursued by the same dark forces he had faced before his accident to brand him with the number 666. Having joined an underground resistance group led by Helen Hannah (Leigh Lewis), Tom began struggling for his life, mind and soul freedom. |

The Waterbury family are completely happy until mysterious men take their father away and they have to move up to Yorkshire without him. The three open-hearted children soon make many friends including their Old Gentleman whom they regularly wave to on his morning train journey. Bobbie, the eldest girl, makes contact with him to try and get help for the problems they are facing. Meanwhile the children find themselves involved in several unexpected dramas on the railway. |

Rannulph Junnah is the best golfer in Savannah. He's living well and has a girl, Adele Invergordon, who's the daughter of a wealthy landowner. The First World War starts, though, and Junnah goes to Europe to fight. The only survivor of a dangerous mission, Junnah doesn't return to Savannah for 15 years. In 1930, he returns, and Adele's father has already committed suicide during the Depression. Pressured by tax collectors to sell the golf course her father built to pay off debts, Adele, now older, vows to bring to Savannah the greatest match ever played on the greatest golf course, her late father's. She's able to round up the 2 greatest golfers of their time, Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen to play for $10,000. The townspeople insist on having "one of their own" compete also, and Rannulph Junnah is rounded up. Junnah now hangs out with bums and is an alcoholic, as he has lost his authentic swing from 15 years ago. At first he turns down the offer. He gets his old clubs and balls and starts practicing. He has lost his ability. Suddenly, Bagger Vance shows up. He offers to be Junnahs's caddy and help him regain his "authentic swing". He does, and Junnah agrees to play in the big match. |

After his Vice-president suddenly dies, the President (Jeff Bridges) who is near the end of his final term, decides to leave a legacy by selecting a woman to fill the position. Enter a Senator (Joan Allen), who has shifted from the Republican Party to the Democratic. Initially appearing to be the perfect candidate, an allegation suddenly appears that she had been involved in a sexual orgy as a 19 year old in college. The confirmation committee chairman (Gary Oldman), a Republican, leaks the information to the press, while using the press discussion as a forum to bring it into the hearings. The chairman desires to get a Governor (William Petersen) into the office. The Governor had become a national hero when he attempted to rescue a young woman from a car that crashed from a bridge into deep water near where the Governor had been fishing. |

Commander Luke Graham is selected to lead the first manned mission to Mars. Upon setting foot on the red planet, the team discovers an ancient, domelike structure which appears to be a beacon. The dome destroys the team and leaves Luc injured. The recently widowed Jim McConnell leads the rescue mission. When they arrive, they find Lke surprisingly alive, and he has spent the time alone learning the secrets of the mysterious construct. The question now becomes: do they enter the dome and answer humanity's oldest question, perhaps risking their lives in doing so, or return to Earth with what they do know and return in force with equipment and supplies? |

A young man has dropped out of Queens College but desperately wants to please his father, a federal judge who's harsh with his son. At his father's insistence, Seth Davis closes a casino he operates in his own house, mostly for college students. Thinking he'll please dad, he takes a job in a small brokerage house, an hour from Manhattan, where trainees make cold calls to lists of well-paid men, and then apply high-pressure tactics to sell initial public offerings exclusive to the firm. He's terrific at sales. Once training is over, the pay is phenomenal, and Seth wonders why. Curiosity leads him to ethical dilemmas, encounters with the Feds, and new territory with his father. |

In September 1971, a platoon of recruits arrives in Ft. Polk, LA, for infantry training before leaving for war. The final week takes place in Tigerland, a swamp similar to Vietnam. Jim Paxton has enlisted; he wants to experience everything and write books later. He befriends Roland Bozz, a cool Texan with a gift for getting into trouble and for helping misfits get discharges. At least one sociopath in the platoon hates Bozz, even as the sergeants grudgingly recognize his leadership abilities. As the platoon heads into its week in Tigerland, Paxton's body gives out, Bozz makes plans to go AWOL, and the sociopath gets hold of live ammo. Is the Louisiana swamp more dangerous than the DMZ? |

But his narration exposes all-consuming envy: of Freddie's supremacy, and especially his tall bird (Saffron Burrows). The baby shark develops his viciousness and backstabbing, scheming to be Gangster No. 1. |
