This modern version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet tells about two rival crime families. These are African-American and Chinese gangs struggling for power over Oakland. When Chinese crime lord's son Po Sing (Jon Kit Lee) is murdered, bad news reaches his older brother Han Sing (Jet Li), an ex-cop who without a second thought breaks out of a Hong Kong prison to track down Po's killers and avenge his death. In the United States while investigating the murder, Han meets Trish O'Day (Aaliyah), the rival ganglord's daughter who wants nothing to do with her father (Delroy Lindo) or his shady business. Han and Trish fall in love with each other and team up to continue the search for justice. |

Shortly before the playoffs, the Washington Sentinels and their cheerleaders have gone on strike for more money. To put their nose out, the owner of the NFL football team, Edward O'Neil (Jack Warden), brings in self-retired head coach Jimmy McGinty (Gene Hackman) to hire a team of substitute players. The replacement team is comprised of Daniel Bateman (Jon Favreau), a violent SWAT leader; Clifford Franklin (Orlando Jones), an ex-convict, who can outrun bit can't catch a football; Nigel 'The Leg' Gruff (Rhys Ifans), a Welsh soccer player who can kick a soccerball the full length of the playing field; Jahmal Abdul Jackson (Faizon Love) and André Action Jackson (Michael Taliferro), stout gangster rapper brothers; Jumbo Fumiko (Ace Yonamine), a Japanese sumo wrestler. Among them is Shane Falco (Keanu Reeves), a former Ohio State quarterback who has to become the ragtag team's captain. Charming blonde Annabelle Farrell (Brooke Langton), the head cheerleader, assembles a group of former strippers to encourage the replacements and kindle their fighting spirit. When moving up to the 7th grade, Trevor McKinney (Haley Joel Osment) doesn't even suspect that his new social studies teacher, Mr. Simonet (Kevin Spacey), will change not only his life forever but lives of many people all over America. Having assigned his students to come up with an idea of world improvement, Eugene Simonet at first doesn't take seriously Trevor's utopian plan. The precocious Trevor reflects that you can make the world better by doing a favor for a stranger and by that stranger paying it forward with good deeds for three other people. It happens that the beautiful Princess Pei Pei (Liu) is abducted from the Forbidden City and taken to America by villainous white men. The Emperor of China sends three of his most reliable, bravest and skilful guards to pay a ransom and retrieve his daughter he loves with all his soul. Chon Wang (Jackie Chan), an athletically built yet gawky imperial guard, is not among one of the three. He, however, insists on accompanying the guards and travels to the West to rescue Pei Pei he has affection for. Both Roy and Chon happen to be separated from their groups and reluctantly become companions to find the Princess. The action takes place in a small French town where its residents lead a hopeless life full of restrictions, rules and regulations. They are blamed and faced with a boycott for any irregularity.
